CATAWBA-KENNAN SEWAGE COMMISSION Waste Water Treatment Sewer Operator in CATAWBA, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Catawba-Kennan Joint Sewage Commission is seeking applicants for the position of Certified Operator of the Catawba-Kennan Wastewater Treatment Facility. This applicant needs to be a self-directed person who can work by alone and be willing to take on all responsibilities and be available whenever situations arise at plant, lift stations, manholes or sewer user tanks. Sewage Treatment Plant Operators are responsible for overseeing the processes involved in treating wastewater to make it safe for disposal or reuse. They follow safety protocols, operate machinery, conduct tests and maintain records to ensure efficient and effective wastewater treatment. This person would need strong mechanical, problem-solving skills and be able to enter and submit DMR reports monthly on computer. Their duties and responsibilities include: Monitor and operate the plant\'s equipment and machinery used for wastewater treatment Inspect equipment and control panels to detect malfunctions or need for maintenance and repair Collect samples and have them readied for carrier pick up, analyzing results to be placed on monthly DMR reports Maintain a log of operations and record meter and gauge readings Adjust controls to regulate flow of sewage to recirculating sand filter beds Implement emergency procedures in case of a plant malfunction or sewer overflow Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating equipment, and replacing parts Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to wastewater treatment Wages will be dependent upon experience, mechanical knowledge and completion of required courses to become a certified operator. Job starts with 6 month probationary period with wage progression beyond that based on job performance. Local residency required within 10 miles of Catawba or Kennan. This is considered a part-time position averaging 15 hours per week depending on workload. There are no benefits offered with this position. Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools. Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, and other work areas, using hand tools and power tools.
