Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics at Southern Utah University invites applications for a Lecturer of Mathematics position starting August 2025. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track (NTT) position. The responsibilities of this position are two-fold: effective teaching and dedicated service. The hired candidate's teaching schedule will be coordinated between them and the department chair, consisting of mostly 3- and 4-credit classes, for 30 credit hours each academic year (typically 15 per semester). These courses will primarily be at the general education and developmental level in mathematics and statistics. The hired candidate will teach regularly face-to-face and online courses. Committee work and professional development are also expected. Those candidates with at least 5 years of full-time experience teaching college mathematics or those with a terminal degree in mathematics may be eligible for appointment at the higher rank of (NTT) Assistant Professor.

Essential Functions
• Teach 30 credit hours per academic year in general education mathematics, general education statistics, and developmental mathematics courses, in face-to-face and online modalities.
• Provide service to the department, college, and university, often through committee work.
• Assessment and curriculum development within the department.
• Mentor mathematics majors.
Education & Experience
• A M.S. in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics Education, or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in mathematics or statistics.
• Evidence of commitment to and excellence in teaching, as well as curriculum development and student mentorship.
• Willingness to serve on committees.
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
Candidates with at least 5 years of teaching experience or a terminal degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or Mathematics Education may be hired at the (NTT) Assistant Professor rank.
