The Operational Excellence Manager will be responsible for leadership of the Operations Shared Service team for the Navigation and Sensor Solutions (NSS) product line, which is a rapidly growing portfolio of current and next generation advanced military navigation systems based in the greater Cedar Rapids, Iowa area. This high visibility leader will be responsible for developing both strategic and tactical execution plans for operations and leading the shared service functions, including logistics, warehousing, shipping; maintenance; continuous improvement; and Operations data, analytics and business systems. This position will report directly to the Navigation & Sensor Systems Operations Director.

Responsibilities of this role include:

Leadership of a 35 employee organization including: industrial engineering, data analysts, business analysts, tool developers, technical SMEs, logistics leadership, and touch labor operating under a collective bargaining agreement

Leads individuals responsible for diverse manufacturing technologies, including: micro-electronics, micro-electronics packaging, circuit card assembly, flip chip, module assembly, test, and classified processing

Drives manufacturing strategy for new state of the art production facility, including implementation of Industry 4.0, Robotics and Automation insertion, and other future technology enablers

Develops and implement plans to improve productivity, reduce scrap and rework costs - while driving to zero defects and 100% on time delivery

Responsible for development and execution of Operations business systems design and integration, including tool development/maintenance, goal/metric definition, and data availability

Provides compliance oversight for Operations command media

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree in STEM and 6 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Strong background of leading and/or supporting team members in a fast-paced, high mix manufacturing environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, assertiveness and persuasion

  • Change leader - proven ability to motivate and lead employees

  • Collaborative leadership behaviors that emphasize high goal setting, team empowerment and cross-functional engagement

  • Strong continuous improvement focus and experience leading Lean/Six Sigma improvements

  • Prior experience creating strategic business plans

  • Prior experience establishing metrics, data/reporting, and developing business systems/tools

  • Prior experience in electronics manufacturing is highly desirable

  • Logistics and warehousing experience

  • Able to effectively work and collaborate across technical and non-technical functional disciplines (Program Office, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, Communications, Human Resources)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $127900 - $217400

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
