Timber Products Company General Manager - TP Trucking (Western Division) in Central Point, Oregon

POSITION SUMMARY:

TP Trucking has operations based in Central Point, OR and Augusta, GA. We currently operate 175 over-the-road trucks delivering products to customers along the I-5 corridor and across the nation. Additionally, we operate a full-service maintenance and body shop in Central Point and a 70,000 square foot warehouse with rail capabilities in Thomson, GA.

This position will lead our Western Division team along with a fleet of 125 tractors providing flat bed, maxi, chip, heavy-haul and hazardous material services as well as material transfer and transportation services to Timber Products Company for their locations in Northern California and Southern Oregon. This position oversees personnel responsible for driver safety & recruiting, customer service & dispatching, driver management, and maintenance operations. The GM works closely with the accounting & finance team on budgets & reports, and with the external sales team on existing customer management and new account development. The GM also works with the Eastern Division GM on profitability and growth objectives.

The successful candidate will promote collaboration and ensure we are making sound data driven decisions and operating in a cost-effective, profitable manner.

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Lead the TP Trucking Western Division, ensuring full and efficient utilization of company resources.

  • Build and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction, provide problem solving resources to the team and market.

  • Provide a safe working environment and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations.

  • Driver recruitment & retention efforts.

  • Fleet size management and forecasting.

  • Customer service efforts & coordination with outside sales team on account management.

  • Freight brokerage services.

  • Maintenance and body shop operations for internal and external customers.

  • Maintains professional and personal networks and participates in relevant professional societies and associations (Oregon Trucking Association, American Trucking Association)

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires 3-5 years of transportation leadership experience, preferably in commercial trucking/transport.

  • Bachelors’ degree in Business Management, or related field preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers.

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment to generate results and meet objectives.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to conduct work in a timely, accurate, and organized manner.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in complex situations.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Willing to travel to visit customers, attend trade shows, and meet in person for company functions.
