SAIC Lead DevOps Engineer in CHANTILLY, Virginia
Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Lead DevOps Engineer to join our National Intelligence Program supporting the development, operations and maintenance, and modernization of a complex, hybrid on-premises and cloud enterprise IT environment. The Lead DevOps Engineer will coordinate the efforts of product development teams with that of operations teams to streamline the development process and build and evolve an automated, secure, and scalable continuous delivery pipeline with high-quality, innovative product releases to mission customers. Responsibilities include leading the design and integration of DevOps tools and technologies for deployment, monitoring, and operations of mission systems software products; working with application teams to help them adopt continuous build, inspection, testing, and deployment approaches; participating in all aspects of DevOps Engineering and promoting industry standard methodologies in DevOps Engineering; helping to configure and monitor DevOps performance; and ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance for mission customers in the Production environment. This position is in Chantilly, VA.
*This contract is expected to be awarded in early 2025.
Responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and manage DevOps processes and strategies for cloud infrastructure, software development, and deployment
Implement and enforce security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
Stay abreast of the latest in DevSecOps technologies and methodologies, applying them to improve our processes and output
Facilitate the adoption of Agile methodologies within the team, ensuring efficient and effective collaboration
Conduct code reviews, security assessments, and testing to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning
Lead and manage the DevOps team, setting objectives, reviewing performances, and facilitating growth and training
Oversee the development and operation of our CI/CD pipeline, including tool selection, maintenance, and optimization
Drive automation within the development process to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Development, QA, Operations) to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software
Develop and track key metrics to continuously assess the effectiveness and quality of DevOps practices and infrastructure
Ensure security best practices are incorporated into infrastructure development and deployment processes
Maintain a release management calendar for core services, ensuring alignment across key partners and vendors
Anticipate challenges and mitigate risks related to deployment and operational issues
Provide hands-on technical leadership to the DevOps team, including guidance in system troubleshooting and support
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity within the DevOps team
Qualifications
Required :
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
15+ years’ experience with systems engineering and software development following Agile or SAFe, DevSecOps, and system architecture programs
Familiarity with high-performance network infrastructure that supports data-heavy analytic and software applications
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to address complex networking challenges
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated experience supporting complex, large Enterprise IT programs that include Service Delivery, Agile development, and DevSecOps
Experience with C/C++/Java/YAML
Ability to adapt to a dynamic customer-oriented environment
Working knowledge of DISA STIG/SRG and STIG tools
Experience with static code analysis/dynamic analysis (Tools: Parasoft, Coverity, Fortify)
Desired :
10+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, systems administration, and/or related areas
5+ years of leadership experience managing and scaling DevOps teams
Expertise in implementing and managing CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, Azure DevOps)
Strong background in cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby
Demonstrable experience with automated testing and monitoring tools
Solid understanding of networking, security, and database management
Excellent project management skills, including agile methodologies and sprint planning
Experience with various DevOps tools (e.g., Jira, Maven, Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, GitHub, BitBucket, Docker, etc.).
Experience building software or solutions using PHP, Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python, or similar programming languages and technology stacks.
Experience leading cross-functional teams.
Experience solving difficult/complex problems and leading people through change.
Experience utilizing testing practices and frameworks including automated testing suites, unit testing, and end-to-end and user-acceptance testing.
Relevant industry certifications (AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Administrator, etc.)
