Accounting Advisory Senior Manager (Government and Public Sector)
Consistent with our Accounting Advisory practice's growth goals, an opportunity has been created for a Senior Manager to serve as a catalyst for continued expansion as a member of our nationally distributed team that will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid or remote capacity with travel for specific projects as needed. This position will also have a leadership role in the growth of the accounting and finance modernization segment of the accounting advisory practice. Our industry-focused teams leverage past experiences to deliver turn-key solutions that address current needs while anticipating future challenges. As a Senior Manager, you will:
Be responsible for leading a team of professionals to deliver consulting services to multiple client relationships as they navigate improvement opportunities and implement solutions to create efficiencies and modernization within their government. You will participate in all stages of various consulting engagements and provide assistance with planning, field work, engagement wrap up and deliverable composition, with additional responsibilities including:
Identifying client needs and fostering strong relationships through business development efforts
Developing team members through constructive and actionable feedback
Leading internal firm initiatives and identify areas for improvements
Managing project resources, budgets, billing and collections
Preparing and/or presenting thought leadership through complex written and verbal materials
Your passion for excellent client service will be demonstrated through the diligent assessment of the “current state” of public sector accounting and finance departments to help transition to their desired “future state,” which can include digitizing or automating accounting workflows, optimizing processes, and providing specific and custom solutions to improve outputs. These value-added services will be focused on functional areas including:
Process Improvement and Control Design
Policy Development & Execution
Organizational Design
Staffing Assessments
Budget Development and Forecasting
Strategic Initiatives
Change Management Oversight
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or other business discipline. Active CPA and/or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
Experience: Minimum 6 years of public accounting external audit/consulting experience or 8 years of experience within a state, county, or municipality’s finance/accounting department, or some combination of both. Experience in business development with these services a plus, but not required
Skills: Experience assessing controls and design effectiveness, strong understanding of government accounting and finance operations, experience assessing the maturity of the accounting and finance function, capital and operational budget process knowledge, proven business development record or willingness. Proficiency in digital tools and technologies used in finance transformation, such as ERP systems and data analytics platforms a plus, but not required
Attributes: Exhibit strong business judgment, strategic thinking, leadership presence, and the ability to articulate complex accounting and process issues to finance and non-finance audiences alike. Creative problem-solving abilities to develop innovative solutions for transformation challenges. Ability to work independently and adapt to rapidly changing environments. Comfortable and thriving in a hybrid work environment.
Travel: Ability to travel as needed up to 30%.

The hourly range for this position is $118,845 to $239,400. Individual rates of pay within this range are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
