Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean of Finance and Personnel provides leadership for all business, financial, and personnel activities of the Belk College of Business. The Assistant Dean has overall accountability for planning and directing the strategic and long-range financial goals of the College. As a direct report of the Dean, this position develops key processes in the College and is responsible for the reporting of financial information to both internal and external stakeholders. The Assistant Dean serves as the College’s primary liaison with Academic Affairs, Business Affairs, Human Resources, Advancement, Internal Audit, and Research & Economic Development. The position serves as an expert resource on College and University financial policies, and provides consultation for College personnel issues.
The Assistant Dean of Finance and Personnel leads Dean’s Office initiatives to improve management procedures, policies, and financial planning. The Assistant Dean serves as a resource on personnel policies and procedures for supervisors within the College. This role supervises five full-time staff positions on the College’s Finance and Personnel Team. Planning, directing and coordinating the efforts of the Finance and Personnel team is an essential part of this position.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Masters degree or bachelors with equivalent experience and five years of experience in financial and personnel management.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Masters degree in Business Administration or a related area from an AACSB accredited program
Experience with financial and personnel management in higher education
Experience with faculty position management
Extensive knowledge of North Carolina and UNC System Office policies and procedures relevant for this position
Prior experience in a supervisory role
Prior experience working with executive level management
