Robert Half Sr Project Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina

Description

We are seeking a Sr. Project Accountant in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role focuses on managing accounting activities related to specific projects within the project ledger, including recording revenues, accruals, and cost deferrals. The Sr. Project Accountant will also interact with different departments to ensure all documentation such as contracts and Estimates To Complete (ETC) are current for each project.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain project accounting records in corporate general ledger Oracle software

• Prepare and process required accounting entries such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and fees as directed by project managers or as required by the project contract

• Ensure contract compliance for timely and accurate billing and revenue recognition

• Review new contracts and modifications to set up projects in Oracle in accordance with financial information from the contract

• Produce monthly accounting reports for financial statements and monthly management reports, compare actual costs to estimates, and analyze variances

• Support internal and external audit information requests and information requests relating to due diligence

• Assist in the management, verification, and administration of purchase requisitions and timely payment of invoices

• Serve as a liaison with customers regarding invoice-related questions, including interpretation of charges, reconciliation, and support documentation

• Assist in the timely collection of accounts receivable and detailed reviews of unbilled revenue

• Enter monthly expense accruals and revenue adjustments, complete general ledger reconciliations and monthly reporting

• Ensure projects are appropriately set up in accordance with contract terms and project management parameters

• Perform cost accounting work covering material and production costs, costs of sales, research, product development, etc. as required by location. Develop standard cost data and accurate inventory valuations.

• Review all revenue contracts and pricing information for completeness and provide revenue, customer, and other analyses for management.

Requirements • Proficient in Account Reconciliation and Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Knowledge of General Ledger management

• Familiarity with Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Knowledge of Oracle software

• Experience in Project Accounting

• Understanding of percentage (%) of completion accounting method

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is highly desirable

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organization and multitasking skills

• Familiarity with accounting software and applications

• Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements

• Commitment to ethical business conduct and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
