University of Virginia Open Rank Clinical Faculty, Division of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Division of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology at the University of Virginia is seeking am open rank (Assistant, Associate, or full Professor) with experience in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and data science to serve as a clinical faculty member. Candidates will be expected to have relevant clinical training and research experience. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications.

The successful candidate will have an established track record of high-quality specialty patient care, research, teaching and institutional service in previous academic positions. The candidate is also expected to have a track record of garnering extramural funding in support of research efforts, preferably NIH funding or competitive scores on recent grant submissions. Additionally, the candidate is expected to assist with several critical unmet needs in the Division including establishing a new dedicated clinical immunology consult service, expanding regional clinical immunology care, leveraging EMR data for quality improvement initiatives and research, and new expertise for the Allergy-Immunology Fellowship.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research - The research component of the position normally includes scholarly publication, attending academic conferences and obtaining grants. More senior scholars often take leadership roles in scholarly associations and act as editors, board members and referees for grant-giving organizations, academic presses and scholarly journals.

  • Teaching - Teaching encompass all activities that directly facilitate student learning, including the contact hours spent in the classroom, office hours, class preparation, grading, answering student email, student advising, evaluating and making available course materials, facilitating e-learning and related duties.

  • Clinical – Clinical encompasses providing high quality allergy-immunology specialty care in Division associated clinics and consult services, completing all required training, and maintaining all professional qualifications required for clinical practice.

  • Service- University service involves membership in departmental, college-level and university committees, attending departmental meetings, student recruitment and processing routine paperwork such as filling out reports, answering email, participating in surveys and voting in university elections.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology or board-eligible by the appointment start date, possess outstanding clinical, technical and interpersonal skills, and training from top-rated institutions.
