Business Development Manager, Global Architects & Designers

Work Mode: Remote

Location: Remote - ideal candidate will be located less than an hour from metro Chicago, IL

Opportunity

Responsible for achieving annual market share and sales objectives in assigned MSA’s and regions through owning and growing the relationship with strategic architect and interior design partners in the Chicago and Dallas MSA’s and effective indirect management of a team of associates within an assigned region.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop, articulate, and implement a comprehensive strategy that allow Kohler Co. to achieve corporate objectives in assigned MSA’s and regions.

  • Establish, own and grow the relationship with key global / regional architectural and interior design firms in the Chicago and Dallas MSAs, uncovering the project pipeline and partnership opportunities. Introduce new products, assist in selecting product, providing budget pricing and writing specification proposals appropriate for all project types.Become the preferred specification partner for Chicago and Dallas A&D firms.

  • Drive A&D strategy through the local sales teams through indirect management of the regions by providing coaching, resources, and support to identify and grow partnerships while earning project specifications.

  • Responsible for regional project tracking of project specifications.Indirectly manage sales team’s usage of internal project tracking software for each assigned region.Strategically manage the sales team, sales resources, and project market around the active project pipeline for each MSA/region.

  • Coach & develop the performance of a team of high-performing sales associates focused on hotels, hi-rise residential, office, stadium / arenas, and other commercial opportunities.

  • Directs the selling activities within the Region, inclusive of resource deployment and customer interactions.Prioritizes effectively and in accordance with corporate objectives.

  • Be an expert in regional and international design trends and specification.

  • Be the liaison between our global architect/designer customers and our Kitchen & Bath North America sales force.

  • Establishes an environment and foundation for future sales growth.

  • Effectively communicate Kohler’s value proposition to both the regional sales team and to key project market decision makers.

  • Proven ability to position products against competitors by providing differentiated and achievable solutions.

  • Evaluate project market trends, establish sales teams specification proposal process for the Region, maintain an in-depth understanding of competitors products and project pricing strategies in each region.

  • Drive strategic account relationships from top down by building personal relationships and trust with principals, associates, studio leads and key designers

  • In conjunction with Marketing, recommend appropriate price strategies to allow Kohler Co. to achieve annual business growth objectives.

  • Identify and communicate business critical priorities to other departments within Kohler Co.Scope of responsibility includes new products and programs capable of delivering a competitive advantage.

  • Be the primary owner for regional trade and industry organizations that impact the Architect and Interior Design community such as IIDA, ASID, and AIA.

  • Collaborate with affiliated Branch Sales Managers-Wholesale and other Vertical Sales Managers to prepare and market development plans, and regional marketing plans for your key markets.

  • Evaluate new and existing specification tools and develop recommendations to ensure that Kohler Co. is always on the leading edge of design, innovation, and productivity.

  • Establish relationships within Kohler Co.’s international divisions and work together to ensure our clients get world class service and support.

  • Adopt, leverage and coach on the use of salesforce to build project specifications and proposals, building a robust project pipeline with our key strategic accounts within the Region.

  • Leverage salesforce to log customer interactions, contacts, manage leads and opportunities to drive customer relationship strategy and forecast future sales.

  • Empowered to make decisions within the Region and on behalf of the Region, and authority to make cross functional decisions in partnership with peers of other Vertical functions.

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; discipline of architecture or design preferred.

  • Must possess proficient skills in written and oral communication with all levels of management and with outside contacts.

  • Demonstrated record of achievement in prior sales management or sales position.

  • Minimum of 5+ years sales experience or plumbing industry experience preferred.

  • Previous experience working with architectural or design firm is preferred.

  • Solid understanding of two-step distribution and pull-through selling preferred.

  • Ability to travel as required by role (25% of the time or approx. 1x/month).

The salary range for this position is $106,900 - $133,600 plus a competitive half-yearly sales incentive bonus. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This position may be eligible for an Area Salary Differential based on the location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vison, 401k, and pension with eligibility to participate in the car program.
