Position Overview
The Staff Accountant for Financial Reporting assists in the preparation and analysis of financial information required to prepare consolidated financial statements and disclosures for a portfolio of consolidated and unconsolidated properties for various reporting requirements. This will include reporting in compliance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Responsibilities
Reports directly to Manager of Financial Reporting
Assist in the preparation of financial statements for reporting to the parent company which includes balance sheet, income statement, cash flows and other supporting schedules
Coordinate with local and global accounting departments, as well as Finance, Tax, and Legal to manage reporting solutions
Maintain SOx compliance and coordinate responses to requests made by internal and external auditors
Assist with transition and implementation of new reporting system leveraging automation
Evaluate current processes and make recommendation to management regarding improvements
Perform monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement variance analysis
Assist with special projects, as needed
Other ad hoc duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA or CPA eligible preferred
College graduates with relevant internship experience or 1-2 years of full-time experience with real estate experience a plus
Knowledge of SEC reporting with IFRS experience a plus.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, staff and external firms
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proactive, deadline focused and organized
Strong analytical ability and proven problem-solving skills
Past experience with accounting software a plus; JD Edwards, Hyperion and OneStream experience preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with other software such as Alteryx and Tableau a plus
