City of Chicopee Chicopee Public Library Children?s Cataloger Position Title: Children\'s Cataloger Department: Chicopee Public Library Employment Status Non-Exempt; Full-Time Salary: UCFW Administration Union, Grade A05, Step 01 Starting at \$20.80 per hour Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor\'s Degree Required SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s \| Chicopee Public Library Department is hiring a Children\'s Cataloger to provide public services for the Youth Services department and technical services for all juvenile acquisitions. This includes the cataloging, processing, and distribution of juvenile and teen materials at all locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE - Maintains current trends in cataloguing technology and C/WMARS cataloguing initiatives. - Assists with outreach, including attendance at school open houses and community events to promote library services. - Catalogs, processes, and distributes juvenile and teen materials to all library locations. - Works as an integral member of Youth Services to coordinate substantial programming initiatives. - Participates in programming for all ages as needed. - Programs RFID tags with automation system and tags materials. - Provides library public services {circulation reference, and programming) in the Children?s Room and Teen Area as needed. QUALIFICATIONS To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria: - A Bachelor\'s Degree is required, a Master\'s Degree in Library Science preferred, with at least 2 years\' demonstrated experience in cataloguing/acquisitions and demonstrated experience with children\'s services. Experience with our JLS, Evergreen, preferred. - Thorough knowledge of Evergreen, our ILS, for cataloguing materials. - Thorough knowledge of contemporary bibliographic maintenance standards and practices including Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules {AACR), RDA, Dewey Decimal Classification, and Library of Congress Subject Headings. - Working knowledge of information literacy instruction and database usage. - Demonstrated experience with services to children and teens. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, officials of other agencies and the public. - Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Canva, and other software and web applications supportive of library presentations and functions. - Organizational ability and strong public service orientation. - Ability to work independently, prioritize and adapt to changing technologies. SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS This is a Full Time, 35-hour/week position, with a schedule of a schedule of various hours, Monday \| Friday with rotations of Saturdays. This role is classified in the UFCW Administration Union, as Grade A05, Step 01 starting pay is \$20.80 per hour with periodic step and pay increases upon continuous completion of employment with the City of Chicopee (dependent on the starting step).
