Metcut Research Inc. Engineering Services Technician - Mechanical in Cincinnati, Ohio
*Description of Duties: *
Under general supervision, performs both routine and component testing to support total lab operations.
- Work and communicate with engineering and internal customers as needed
- Performs instrumentation and testing of a mix of standard and non-routine test/metallurgical specimens
- Regularly operate servo-hydraulic test frames using MTS 458 & Flex SE controllers
- Performs test data processing utilizing MS Word and MS Excel
- Performs calculations, recording, and verifying of metallographic standards
- Performs and/or checks program setups
- Calibrated and set-up standardized material/metallographic testing stations
- Perform measurements utilizing various inspection techniques/tools
- Maintains lab support equipment as needed
- Assists Specialists and Engineers in project planning
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as workload demands it
Qualifications
- General mechanical aptitude with ability to understand and apply concepts
- Ability to perform advanced math calculations
- Proficient with standard Microsoft Office
- Previous mechanical testing lab experience
- Ability to pay meticulous attention to all aspects of a situation or task, regardless of significance.
- Possess good interpersonal skills, good teamwork as well as able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Standing/sitting time ration is 80/20, respectively.
- Maximum weightlifting requirement is 50 lbs.
- Hydraulic or Electronics background would be a plus.
