Robert Half Plant Accountant in Clarksville, Tennessee

Description We are seeking a Cost Accountant for our team based in Clarksville, Tennessee. This role primarily involves supporting our Plant and Division Controller, as well as the Finance Manager, with an array of tasks related to cost accounting in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting the Plant and Division Controller and Finance Manager by dividing time effectively between tasks.

• Performing month-end financial closure for the Plant, including recording of manufacturing expenses, depreciation, taxes, and other overhead expenses.

• Delivering manufacturing cost and variance analysis for the Plant.

• Understanding and communicating monthly financial results and key operating metrics to the Plant Management Staff.

• Producing daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the Plant Manager.

• Participating in regular staff meetings and monthly management review meetings as a member of the Plant Manager's staff.

• Ensuring adequate internal controls exist and are utilized at the plant.

• Assisting local management in identifying areas of weakness and implementing corrective action.

• Assisting local management in identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities.

• Supporting divisional requirements such as internal and external audits.

• Providing financial support for capital development projects, from approval to installation.

• Collaborating with the Finance Manager to maintain standard costs, routers, and department burden rates.

• Assisting in developing monthly forecasts and annual operating plans.

• Performing monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

• Maintaining a Fixed Asset System for the Clarksville Plant.

• Assisting in tracking product margins, cost reductions, and new product programs.

• Analyzing inventory variances/transactions and inventory control cycle count programs. Requirements • Minimum of three years of experience in a Cost Accountant role or similar

• Proficiency in inventory variance and fixed asset accounting

• Experience with budgeting and forecasting

• Knowledge of demand forecasting

• Familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting

• Experience conducting internal and external audits

• Understanding of internal control mechanisms

• Proficiency in SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance procedures

• Ability to perform depreciation calculations

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• Familiarity with accounting software and databases

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
