Cleveland Clinic Director of Social Work Services - Taussig Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio

As Director of Taussig Cancer Center's Social Work Services, you will direct and oversee all clinical programs and operations of Taussig Cancer Center's Social Worker program. This position supervises all social worker services staff related to clinical services and builds upon current programs to create new programs to complement services.

A caregiver in this position works Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm.

A Caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Direct strategic and clinical operations of Taussig Cancer Institute Social Workers.

  • Direct and manage Social Work Management Teams, Senior Social Workers, Oncology Social Workers, Palliative Care Social Workers, and Social Work Interns.

  • Direct and manage Cancer Center Patient and Family Support Services leadership and team members

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of psychosocial services; ensure that policies and procedures are aligned with the goals of Taussig Cancer Institute and meet external regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct periodic quality assurance meetings to establish, document, and review quality improvement trends and to implement plans for improvement.

  • Oversee continuing education and in-service training activities to increase the professional knowledge and skills of staff.

  • Oversee the operations for patient assistance funds, parking assistance, transportation other assistance programs.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and partners servicing patients and families affected by cancer (Gathering Place, Hope Lodge, LLS, etc.)

  • Integrate social work services by supporting the organizational mission, priorities, and goals, and by delivering optimal quality psychosocial support services.

  • Collaborate with Hospital leadership to lead and manage interdepartmental interactions as well as performance improvement to support the annual strategic goals.

  • Provide leadership for and participates in Taussig Cancer Institute program planning, projects, and committees. Provides expertise and direction for complex problem-solving.

  • Provide leadership of short- and long-term improvement initiatives as requested by Cleveland Clinic leadership.

  • Lead/Oversee grant application strategy for cancer support services and participate in research and education at the direction of institute leadership.

Minimum Qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work required.

  • Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.

  • Current state licensure as Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.

  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience inclusive of 5 years of management experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:

  • Is comfortable leading a diverse team of caregivers who are not all on campus.

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Builds positive and professional relationships with patients and caregivers.

  • Strong leadership skillset, managing larger teams of 20+ caregivers

  • Has worked in larger matrixed organizations, preferably in healthcare

  • Has vast experience in community involvement, resource utilization and/or outreach
