Automation Engineering Tech

Reports to: Engineering, Quality & Maintenance Manager

The Automation Engineering Tech contributes by providing hands-on, technical support to Pittsburgh’s automated packaging equipment. This position works directly with Engineering & Operations to deliver safe, timely and professional support in the technical aspects of our business.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of automated and semi-automated equipment

• Design of PLC corrective measures to ensure automation processes are operating at maximum output

• Oversee repairs and adjustments to electro-mechanical components such as servo pick-and-place and pneumatic tooling devices

• Diagnose and repair faults on 6-axis and SCARA robotics

• Develop and implement machine-based improvement projects to maximize productivity and reduce downtime

• General equipment & facility maintenance as needed

• As-needed support to the OPS team for Quality sorts & rework

• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

• 1-3 years of automation technical experience with a demonstrated history of PLC troubleshooting skills

• Technical degree in Industrial Controls, PLC programming or related discipline

• Detailed knowledge with the following automation equipment:

• Studio 5000 Logix

• Allen Bradley PLC's

• Fanuc Robotics

• Servo Applications

• Ability to train and coach machine operators

• Skilled in reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

• General capability to interpret SolidWorks 3D models

• Knowledge in working on industrial electrical circuits (primarily conduit and wire installation) is preferred
