The SARA, Inc. High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and imaginative Mechanical Test Engineer to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers. Our small group will allow the candidate to experience, contribute, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation.

Core Responsibilities: * Develop detailed test plans for shock, vibration, and environmental requirements * Design and fabricate fixtures and tooling for various testing scenarios * Prepare and execute tests using slip tables, drop testers, environmental spray chambers, and thermally controlled chambers * Conduct tests to ensure compliance with MIL-STD 810G/H and other relevant standards * Analyze test data, document findings, and present results to the engineering team * Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate test results into product improvements * Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained * Provide technical support and guidance on testing methodologies and best practices * Interact with all levels of engineering staff and outside vendors * Must have knowledge of manufacturing materials and their inherent properties * Ability to provide insight and execution to process improvements * Work as part of a cross-functional team to resolve system issues and provide technical recommendations for design modifications to eliminate system malfunctions

Requirements: * BS or MS Degree in Engineering discipline * 5-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical testing and engineering * Proficiency in developing and executing test plans for mechanical and environmental testing * Advanced skills in SolidWorks for design and simulation * Experience with data acquisition (DAQ) programming and instrumentation * Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to document and present technical information clearly and concisely * Advanced skills in SolidWorks 3D modeling * Proven time management skills; able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment juggling multiple priorities and projects * Upbeat, positive, high energy with a can do attitude; reacts well under pressure * Willingness to work as part of a team and initiate communication * Extremely reliable and dependable * Ability and willingness to travel to support field testing activities in-state and out-of-state (< 15% time) * Ability to obtain and maintain TS security clearance * US Citizenship required * May require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds * Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, moderate physical hazards may exist

Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with MIL-STD testing requirements, particularly MIL-STD 810G/H * Experience with FEA simulation software such as COMSOL or SolidWorks Simulation Suite * Hands-on experience with slip tables, drop testers, environmental spray chambers, and thermally controlled chambers * Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for mec anical testing * Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously * Excellent communication and teamwork abilities * Certifications related to mechanical testing or engineering (e.g., PE license) * Excellent problem-solving skills to effectively research answers to conceptual questions utilizing internal and external resources * Active TS security clearance

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
