The Maintenance Supervisor (Technical Inspections) is responsible for planning, organizing and executing various aspects of the Maintenance Division’s maintenance operations. Supervises the performance of acceptance, initial, random and final inspection, as well as maintenance expenditure limit (MEL) verifications on equipment submitted for maintenance. Ensures that all technical manual and regulatory standards are properly applied.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Programs equipment for repair into shops and manage the resources (personnel, repair parts, facilities, tools) in order to complete all repairs/services IAW contract requirements.

  • Oversees acceptance, initial, in-progress, critical task and final inspection on all types of equipment.

  • Provides technical assistance for the diagnostics and inspection of equipment.

  • Performs classification on all types of equipment IAW the appropriate documentation.

  • Prepares labor and parts estimates toward the cost of repairs.

  • Conducts load testing of various types of Material Handling Equipment.

  • Identifies repair part requirements using the appropriate technical manuals.

  • Tests equipment to ensure proper operation.

  • Manages timecard approval processing to ensure accuracy.

    Material & Equipment Directly Used:

  • Various shop tools and equipment, hand and power tools, and heavy machinery.

  • Extensive use of a desktop computer and multi-functional device.

  • Steel Toe shoes may be required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.

    Working Conditions:

  • The worker will typically conduct work in a temperature-controlled environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more with moderate exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition.

  • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

  • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week).

  • Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.

    Physical Conditions:

  • Work requires sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending and routine lifting of equipment and boxes in an office environment.

  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have at least 5 years of direct supervisory experience in a setting involving the Maintenance of Army Material.

  • Must have an operational knowledge of the use of the Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-Army) and other related logistic information systems.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Valid Driver’s License without restrictions.

    Skills/Experience:

  • The Maintenance Supervisor (Technical Inspections) must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in first-line supervision of fleet/equipment management/maintenance.

  • Must have prior experience similar to that of a CMF 63/91 Mechanical Maintenance career field supervisor.

  • 3-6 years’ experience in Automotive/ General Equipment maintenance or an equivalent.

  • Ability to lead a mobile maintenance team through the day-to-day logistical requirements in order to service, repair tactical, non-tactical, commercial and construction equipment.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems and components on various construction equipment, tracked vehicles, lawn equipment and other small engine systems in accordance with appropriate procedures and publications.

  • Personal computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copy machine and other general office equipment.
