Purpose:

The Highland Behavioral Day School Secretaryposition was established to provide secretarial and administrative support to the administration; communicate with staff, students, parents, and/or other districts; ensure compliance with ongoing reporting (attendance; food service, etc.); and support the broad array of services provided to students and staff.

Essential Functions:

  1. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide audience.
  2. Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate meeting area or classroom.
  3. Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via telephone or email.
  4. Perform administrative tasks; including keeping attendance on students, managing the district lunch service requirements, and communicating with participating districts.
  5. Order and maintain office and building supplies
  6. Organize and distribute messages
  7. Maintain confidential files/records
  8. Organize and assist with the transportation of students to off-site learning opportunities
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision
  10. Ability to be flexible

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires the ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods.
  2. Requires the ability to manually move, lift, pull, or pushheavy objects or materials
  3. Requires the ability to stoop or bend
  4. Must be able to work in semi-noisy environments
  5. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in managing the operations of the Highland School main office.
  2. Frequently communicate with participating districts, parents, related service providers, and staff regarding students who attend the Highland Behavioral Day School.
  3. Maintain accurate records on student attendance, district meal services, and other relevant reports.
  4. Taking and filtering messages for administration.
  5. Assist in scheduling, and possibly providing, transportation for students to off-site opportunities.
  6. Assist with establishing and maintaining student records and information.
  7. Assist teachers within the classroom when the staffing of students is impacted.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Highland Behavioral Day School Administrator and/or Interlocal Administrative Team, which are consistent with essential, general, and qualifications for this position.
