Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications team is seeking a creative and analytical university student to serve as the Digital Marketing Intern for Fall Semester 2024 . This position is remote/hybrid located in Columbus, Ohio .

In alignment with corporate and global business unit strategies, the * Digital Marketing Intern*  plays a crucial role in executing our company’s digital marketing strategy. The Digital Marketing Co-op will assist in developing engaging content and helping to optimize digital campaigns, across paid and organic media. They are a creative scientist, continually evaluating and improving digital media effectiveness, ensuring adherence to best practices, analyzing digital landscapes, and creating and implementing optimization strategies. The Digital Marketing Co-op’s primary responsibility is to perform search engine optimization, but the Digital Marketing Co-op will also be expected to help with other projects and marketing needs, such as reporting, content creation, social media scheduling, website development, market research and more.

The role requires strong communication skills, timeliness, attention to detail, and critical thinking to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement of digital marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

Intern activities may include some or all of the following:

  • Perform SEO, including tagging, meta data, link building and citations

  • Assist with content creation, including website, email and blog content

  • Evaluate large data sets to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators and recommend optimizations

  • Set-up and audit Google Analytics profile settings and tracking, including goals

  • Perform market and client research

  • Assist with media campaigns as needed, including Paid Search and Social Advertising

  • Create and/or optimize recommended searches and other website features as needed

  • Work with all members of the Battelle team to resolve problems

  • Submit, manage and troubleshoot support tickets as needed

  • Create and update best practices documentation

  • Assist with email marketing campaigns promoting Battelle’s offerings

  • Assist with social media scheduling and optimization

Key Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Computer Science or a closely related field of study

  • Must have at least two years of college coursework complete

  • Knowledge of Google Analytics

  • Understanding of HTML and Search Engine Optimization

  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • A strong work ethic and team mentality including professional presentation, timeliness, discipline and behavior

  • Resourcefulness and ability to work independently to problem solve

  • Must be U.S. Person by definition of U.S. export laws

Preferred Qualifications

  • Applicants for Previous internship or experience as a Digital Marketer

  • Applicable course work in Digital Marketing

  • Experience with tagging, link building, user experience, content management and optimization tools like MOZ

  • Strong communication and writing skills; comfortable creating original content

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and schedulers like Hootsuite and Octopost

  • Working knowledge of Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, LinkedIN Ads

  • Working knowledge of AI focused marketing tools
