Vertiv Corporation Lead Development Scientist (REMOTE) in Columbus, Ohio

POSITION SUMMARY Provides technical direction in one or more scientific or engineering specialties for the company. Oversees corporate product development plans and research to ensure that fundamental assumptions are correct and design directions are sound. Creates linkages with other Vertiv Business Units which develop products with similar or complimentary technologies. RESPONSIBILITIES * Primary responsibility is developing and validating behavioral models * Sets direction for technology choices of product development teams. * Provides linkages into the global technical community for his/her specialty (universities, professional societies, research laboratories) * Identifies opportunities for new products through new technology. * Provides consulting services to all product development teams. * Supports product development activities where needed. * Provides reports and presentations to executives to keep them informed of new directions. * Helps to assess the technical capabilities and needs of the engineering organization. * May supervise product development teams or small research teams. QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum of 15 years of experience in field of specialty. * Knowledgeable about the development and refinement of behavioral models in Matlab or other behavioral modeling packages * Recognized leader in his/her field. * Ability to communicate via written reports, technical papers and technical presentations. * Ability to assess potential economic payoff of new technologies. * Ability to direct research and exploratory projects. * Advanced degree or significant relevant experience in field of expertise. * Record of publishing technical papers. * First to market with products differentiated by new technologies. * Creating new markets with products based on new technologies.
