Job Title: Service Shop Mechanic
Job Description
As a Service Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing various systems found on heavy equipment. This includes mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, and pneumatic systems. You will troubleshoot malfunctions, repair track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, and more. The role also involves tuning diesel engines, servicing valves, fuel filters, and turbo chargers, as well as diagnosing and repairing issues in the cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, air conditioning, hydraulic, and air systems. You will ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organized, and in good working condition, and may assist in training junior workers in mechanical repair techniques.
Hard Skills
Working knowledge of machinery and engine repair and maintenance
Proficient with hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists
Experienced in diagnostic testing and tuning equipment
Skilled in gas and electric welding
Ability to read manuals and schematics
Engine rebuilding and major driveline component skills
Soft Skills
Good troubleshooting skills
Effective organizational skills
Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Corpus Christi, Texas and some days remote.
Work Environment
Work will be conducted in a shop environment with equipment coming in for service or repair. The environment is non-climate controlled.
