CIE Newcor MTG Manufacturing Technician in Corunna MI, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY

Performs production change overs and basic trouble shooting with Automation & Non-Automation cells as required by production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts preliminary root cause investigations.
  • Provides training and support to machine operators.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining continuous improvements projects
  • Coordinates process issues with operators, plant management, and maintenance personnel.
  • Supports problem solving and decision making activities or may be chosen to lead activities.
  • Assists in preventive maintenance programs and routine maintenance.
  • Trains Team Leaders duties related to the automation.
  • Sets up and programs (limited) equipment, performs capability studies, produce prototype parts.
  • Responsible for adherence to all company safety and housekeeping rules.
  • Working knowledge of digital and robot inputs and outputs associated with the actions within the cell.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently operate hand pendant with knowledge of its basic functionality.  Ability to navigate through screens necessary for operation within the cell and various troubleshooting activities.
  • Capable of jogging the robot safely in collision situations or otherwise. Knowledge of robot coordinate systems and how they are applicable to different programs or jogging functions.
  • Regular verification of the function of robot gripper reed switches to ensure proper feedback to robot program. Replacement or adjustment of reed switches as needed. 
  • Replacement or adjustment of sensors within the cell that provide feedback to the robot program.
  • Primary level troubleshooting of robot related problems; works with assistance from engineering/maintenance for higher level troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of proper recovery/startup procedures and determination of what is required.
  • Regularly backs up programs and archives them for potential data loss. 
  • Regularly inspects condition of gripper pads; repairs, adjusts, or replaces as needed. Verifies proper function of grippers, replacing or repairing unit as needed.
  • Inspection, repair, troubleshooting of process machines within the cell as ability allows
  • Ability to put automation cells in manual mode when needed
  • Responsible for Maintaining a Clean / organized working area
  • Might be required to run machines as necessary

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have a two year technical degree or equivalent level of knowledge / experience. 

Requires team oriented leadership skills and continuing education/training mechanical engineering techniques. A valid Hi-lo license may be required.

Must have Lock out tag out training

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Maintains interface with all functional departments of plant.

Communication via Email, Logs & communication boards.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Physical demands required: Occasional climbing. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and fingering.
  • Environmental conditions: Exposure to noise, atmospheric conditions, and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, or machinery.
  • This position requires coverage for other shifts
