  • As the Manager of the Operations Strategic Alignment team, you will have a critical role in collaborating with key stakeholders across Operations as well as partnering with customer experience, finance, and technology to bring alignment to our Operations’ priorities, support our technology strategy, and ensure we work together to achieve Operations’ key initiatives and goals.

  • The Manager will be responsible for directly and indirectly leading people and teams, coordinating on Operations’ portfolio of key efforts, providing guidance and support to reach agreement on key initiatives, identifying and framing issues and driving decisions across the organization.

  • You will lead the Ops teams in their migrations to the Product Model, which includes promoting short and long-term strategy planning, partnering on key result development with attribution to portfolio goals, and transforming the way in which we partner with IT to achieve objectives

  • The role is part of the Operations Product Management team within our Operations Planning and Performance group

  • Provide strategic thought leadership in support of the broader goals, identify decisions that need to be made and drive prioritization

  • Connect the vision with the tangible pieces that enable its fulfillment

  • Enable teams and leaders to connect the dots between the various initiatives with the larger plan

  • Be the link between business and IT teams across organizations to bring about consistency and synergies on technology in use and in development

  • Ensure clarity of business requirements from stakeholders to enable proper planning and design of new initiatives

  • Communicate horizontally and vertically to drive and recommend key outcomes to all levels of leadership

  • Uphold inclusive leadership values, develop, and care for the team, provide positive impact on culture at American Airlines and ensure a one team mentality

All you'll need for success

Minimum Job Requirements – Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training

  • 5-7 years professional experience with at least three years airline, technology, operations or consulting experience

  • Proven success collaborating across a wide variety of cross functional teams and initiatives

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Preferred Job Requirements – Education and Experience

  • Product management experience

  • Change management experience

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Previous portfolio management experience with ability to lead, organize, and prioritize projects

  • Ability to translate between worlds of technology and business

  • Collaborative approach with proven ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Effective decision-making based on a combination of data-driven analysis and strategic consideration

  • Strong interpersonal skills including leadership, collaboration, consensus-building, and cultural awareness

  • Ability to build strong consensus and achieve results though others

  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with an ability to reach all levels both verbally and in writing
