Our goal is to support you and your transition into the high performing, inclusive and engaged workforce needed to meet the manufacturing needs of tomorrow. As part of the engineering cooperative education program (co-op), you will be provided with hands-on experience that will develop you technically and professionally. Over the course of multiple semesters, the co-op program also lets you build a network of friends and contacts, learn about living and playing in Dearborn, Michigan, or alternate production sites in North America to learn valuable skills and see what Ford Motor Company manufacturing is all about!

Co-ops will be assigned to our four (4) core areas of manufacturing – Stamping, Body Construction, Paint Engineering, and Final Assembly. Within these first few assignments, you will be able to demonstrate your technical ability and leadership skills as you begin to define your concentration of interest in the latter years of your educational program. This highly personalized program is driven by the student’s interests and growth opportunities to develop a capable workforce in support of vehicle manufacturing.

Those individuals who successfully demonstrate the skills required to contribute to the organization's success will be considered for available openings matching their background and interest upon graduation.

Requirements:

  • As our co-op program is a three-way relationship between Ford, the student and the university, eligible candidates.

  • Must be enrolled as a Kettering University student including graduating high school students enrolled at Kettering in 2024.

  • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the program.

  • Students must be able to work at least 40 hours per week during workterms.

  • Students must be continually enrolled to be a part of this program.

  • Must be capable of working in plant production manufacturing environment.

  • Students must be capable of travel within North America as the Co-op assignment requires.
