SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward thinking, and engaging Coordinator of the Multicultural Center to contribute to developing a welcoming college community for all. The Coordinator of the Multicultural Center is a 12-month position, supporting retention for, and provides support to, students from all diverse backgrounds, with special emphasis on enriching the experiences of Black and Hispanic men. This position works with and supports existing individuals and departments in providing educational diversity, equity and inclusion opportunities for the broader SUNY Delhi campus community, working directly with various multicultural-based student organizations to mentor and achieve student success, and also works collaboratively with campus departments. Occasional nights and weekends are required and if needed, the employees' schedule may be "flexed" contingent upon supervisors' approval.

Position Description

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations of the Multicultural Center (MOSAIC), including supervising student employees. Maintain a welcoming, active, and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

  • Provide outreach to students with special emphasis of underrepresented populations (including but not limited to: Men of Color, Women of Color, LBGTQIA+, LatinX and International Students).

  • Advise and mentor multicultural student organizations connected to MOSAIC while supporting all student organizations developing multicultural engagement.

  • Facilitate programs and workshops on cultural and identity awareness, development, and exploration to advance the MOSAIC and institutional mission.

  • Implement creative, educational, social, and developmental activities focusing on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice for the campus community.

  • Assist with planning and implementation of student leadership development and training programs for student leaders.

  • Assist with planning and event management for large scale multicultural events on campus, including but not limited to Lavender Graduation and Kente Celebration.

  • Reestablish Men of Distinction Academy (adult and peer mentorship program for men of color) while coordinating skill building and strength-based strategies to support student success among men of color.

  • Lead assessment development and data collection for MOSIAC.

  • Serve as a member of the Equity Council and the Racial Equity Justice Institute, along with additional campus committees as needed.

  • Attend and assist as needed during large scale campus events (Ex: Open House, Accepted Student Days) and present during student success and professional development days (Ex: Welcome Week, S.P.A.R.K.)

    Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 2 years of experience in either multicultural affairs, and/or student activities, and/or social justice or related programs

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with individuals from various backgrounds

  • Valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment
