City of Delphos Maintenance Superintendent in delphos, Ohio

The City of Delphos is accepting resumes for the position of Maintenance Superintendent. 

This is an administrative position responsible to ensure work in the construction, maintenance and repair of utilities and public work facilities is performed. This position is also responsible for planning, scheduling, and assigning work for the maintenance personnel, during the construction, maintenance and repair of city streets, alleys, curbs, gutters, signs and signals, sewer collection system, water distribution system, fire hydrants, sidewalks, public lands, and building. Shall work closely with the Safety Service Director, the Mayor and other department heads in determining work project methods and priorities. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for ensuring full utilization of all maintenance personnel and equipment in the best interest of the city; while at the same time make certain that all safety procedures are strictly maintained.

Position Title: Maintenance Superintendent

Pay: $52,000 to $81,000 per year depending on qualifications

TYPICAL TASKS:

  • Collaborates with the Safety/Service Director, Water Superintendent, Wastewater Superintendent and Park Superintendent in planning work projects, determining project priorities, and allocating equipment and personnel in a manner conducive to full utilization
  • Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work of a number of crews engaged in the construction alteration, maintenance and repair of streets, alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, signs and signal, hydrants, snow removal and de-icing activities, sewer collection systems and water distribution systems
  • Investigates emergency maintenance and repair situations and citizens complaints referred to him by the Safety/Service Director, the Mayor, and other Department Heads or citizens call-ins and determines appropriate action to be taken
  • Develops budget estimates for the department operation, justifies budget requests, controls expenditures within budget. Prepare requisitions for necessary related supplies, materials and equipment
  • Provides appropriate oral and written reports and maintains records and inventories as requested by the city administration
  • When necessary instructs subordinates in the proper work procedures and the proper operation and maintenance of equipment, including sound safety measures to be followed
  • Handles subordinates' complaints and refers them to the Safety/Service Director in the event the problem is not resolved or is beyond his jurisdiction
  • Educate and enforce city policies and procedures and take disciplinary action when deemed necessary

NORMAL EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • Graduation from high school or General Equivalent Development equivalency or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Five years of progressively responsible and related construction and maintenance work, including responsible supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must pass a physical examination prescribed by the City of Delphos, prior to appointment in this classification

Must possess a valid motor vehicles operator's license issued
