Senior Software Engineering Architect (Western Union, LLC, Denver, CO)
Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. Work with engineering and business partners to define and build out complex solutions. Drive value through business process simplification, automation and new product capabilities and innovations. Demonstrate strong capabilities in assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards. Lead product solutions end-to-end for innovations with iterative improvements. Collaborate with peer and cross functional teams across the globe. Strong emphasis on customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous development. Track records of successful software architecture design and implementation. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days/week. When not telecommuting, must report to Denver HQ. Salary Range: $140,091 - $233,485 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer and Information Technology, Information Science, or related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as a Software Engineering Architect, Software Developer, or any occupation/position/job title involving software engineering.
Must also have the following special skills:
3 years of professional experience working with application of data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/D; 3 years of professional experience utilizing modern programming languages (including Java and Python) and design patterns; 3 years of professional experience building a micro services-based architecture and platform developed and deployed at scale; 3 years of professional experience utilizing Java/Spring Framework, Cloud Computing Services, containerization tools (including Docker Kubernetes, Middleware Technologies, (including WebSphere/Jboss/Apache Web Servers), Kafka brokers, Databases (including Oracle/DynamoDB), and Linux Operating System; 3 years of professional experience utilizing Agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery) with Tools (including Jira, Junit, Jenkins, Nexus, Jfrog Artifactory, Appscan, Splunk, Dynatrace and CA APM and Prometheus); and 3 years of professional experience using Disaster Recovery and Failover strategy and implementation.

Annual base salary gross: $140,091 – $233,485 USD. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the Western Union salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of Western Union’s total compensation package for employees.
