A Day in the Life: As a Feed mill Operator, your main duty is the safe manufacturing and sequencing of feed in accordance with the policies of Good Manufacturing Practices. You will also be responsible for filling out all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. You will be asked to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements for production and for accurate drug inventory records which you must reconcile at the close of each business day. You are responsible for weighing medications and ingredients in advance and keeping bins at adequate levels to keep the flow of feed running efficiently. You are also responsible for the upkeep, minor maintenance, and records of work performed on feed mill equipment as well as the housekeeping and cleanliness of the milling and boot bit areas. Although your primary job is in the feed mill, you will be asked to assist in the warehouse, delivery of feed, and with other customer service duties as assigned. The operation relies on you to report any problems that occur with the manufacturing or delivery of feed as well as reporting any concerns or questions customers have immediately. You will encounter moving parts on running equipment, noise, heights, and at times adverse weather and road conditions. You will be expected to work hard, and you will have to work more hours during busy seasons. The Cooperative operates under the all hands-on deck philosophy when it comes to getting things done. Therefore, employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
What Youll Need to Do This Job: High School Diploma and/or equivalent May be asked to obtain CDL to assist in deliveries Farming or agriculture background/knowledge preferred Highly motivated self-starter Excellent written and oral communication Basic computer skills Excellent customer service skills The ability to think clearly and problem solve The desire to be involved in agriculture and work for a cooperative Physically, this position requires you to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and crawl on a regular basis This position requires you to climb ladders and ride the man-lift. You must be able to regularly lift at least 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds You will be exposed to grain, feed and livestock dust, odors, gasses as well as mud and livestock wastes You must be flexible with your schedule as more hours will be expected during peak demand seasons and you may be asked to help with the unloading/loading of trains at grain facilities
