Position Summary
The Veenema laboratory in MSU's Neuroscience Program and Department of Psychology is seeking a full-time Research Technologist for one year. The position will include a competitive salary and benefits. The Research Technologist will be responsible for maintaining the daily ongoing infrastructure of the laboratory and assist in research experiments conducted by other lab members. The laboratory investigates the neural mechanisms underlying the regulation of social behavior in laboratory rodents. Specific responsibilities will include: 1) maintaining inventory and ordering laboratory supplies, 2) conducting research experiments under the direction of a researcher which will include surgical and behavioral procedures in laboratory rodents as well as histological and molecular biology procedures, 3) assisting with the training of undergraduate students in laboratory procedures.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.

Work Hours
