Meridian Magnesium Product of America Maintenance Supervisor in Eaton Rapids, Michigan
Afternoon Shift (3pm to 11pm)
Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will be the leader of shop floor Maintenance Journeymen and Apprentices, and has the responsibility to coach, supervise and develop them in supporting production and equipment maintenance. The role is pivotal in preventative maintenance and continuous improvement activities pertaining to the maintenance function within the business.
Major Responsibilities of Position
- Leadership: Supervise, coach, and mentor Maintenance staff on their daily duties in supporting production, ensuring equipment functions as designed to produce quality parts in a timely and safe manner.

``` - Safety: Observing all safety related policies and procedures, maintaining a safe working environment at all times, ensuring equipment safety mechanisms are adequate and functioning properly, and good housekeeping is adhered to. - Problem Solving: Address equipment related failures providing necessary guidance to allow teams to identify root causes and countermeasures so problems can be eradicated and don't reoccur.

``` - Preventative Maintenance: Ensure preventative maintenance programs are developed and maintained for all machines. Ensure equipment and tools are maintained to standard.

``` - Communication: Ensure accurate and precise communication of results and targets to maintenance and production teams, peers, and management team. Contribute with information to complete daily, weekly and monthly reporting to all interested parties.

``` - Training: Train, coach and mentor team members in maintenance systems and procedures. Encourage use and understanding of maintenance related processes and systems.

``` - Financial Controls: Ensure expenses are necessary and don't exceed capital and expense budget approvals. Maintenance professional relationships with outside suppliers and vendors. Assist in maintaining all related spare parts and tool stock in inventory. - Equipment Maintenance and Installation: Support maintenance team with equipment maintenance and installation questions and roadblocks. Participate in new equipment buy-off process. Assist with recommendations for sourcing decisions related to contact labor, new equipment, major repairs, spare parts and tools - Prioritization and Planning: Ensure maintenance activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner following preventative maintenance schedules and work order process. Understand impact of equipment downtime to meeting production goals and customer shipments, prioritize effectively, and assign staff accordingly. - Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Knowledge and ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
Time/priority management skills to meet or exceed targets for equipment preventative maintenance, repair and installation.
Ability to be certified to drive/operate forklift, overhead crane, and other related maintenance required equipment.
Working knowledge of problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
