Third Wave Systems Engineering Applications Developers in Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Third Wave Systems, Inc. seeks Engineering Applications Developers based in Eden Prairie, MN. Hybrid remote work permissible. Must live within commuting distance from office. Multiple openings available. Duties include: Provide mechanical engineering expertise to the software development teams, including knowledge of finite element formulations, material modeling, machining processes, and object-oriented programming; Use knowledge of manufacturing industry standards and relevant algorithms to engineer relevant solutions for analyzing and optimizing machining processes on a toolpath level; Implement Finite Element Analysis (FEA)-driven material models to help in accurately identifying power specifications and ensuring customers are using appropriate safety factor; Develop technologies that combine physics and material modelling to deliver accurate machining simulation software (Production Module) for manufacturing processes; Improve existing capabilities and develop advanced features for computing geometry, mesh, and results visualization which require knowledge of computational linear algebra and applied mathematics; Diagnose technical issues related to understanding physics, determining modelling intent, and desired results; Collaborate within the teams to analyze data, design DOEs and gain performance understanding; Guide verification and validation plans to maintain the software quality; Work with third party CAD/CAM software like Mastercam to support integration with Production Module; Proactively communicate with product quality and applications team to actively incorporate feedback in product development process; Document feature specifications, and user stories to aid in project visibility and code maintainability; and Work closely with the product owner to understand new machining feature requests from the user s perspective and translate them into actionable tasks for the team. Salary range: $71,011 - $85,000 per year. Benefits include health, dental, 401(k), PTO. Position requires Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least three computational mechanics classes (such as Finite Element Methods, Elasticity, and Advanced Strength of Materials). Position also requires 18 months experience in any role that used CAE software to analyze machining processes, where such experience 1) utilized a physics-based approach and 2) involved creating Design of Experiments for machining processes and analyzing the results.
