SUMMARY:The Special Education Self-Contained Teachers primary function is to work with students individually and in small groups within their own classroom. This teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, school psychologists, and other staff. Responsibilities include adapting curriculum, serving as a liaison with resources, and providing assessments and interventions based on testing and observation. The teacher designs Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to personalize learning goals and make modifications and accommodations for each student. Duties are carried out under the supervision and guidance of the school principal, assistant principal, and/or teacher on special assignment.
