Essential Functions:\ 1. Quick register patients and obtain signatures when needed.\ 2. Page and/or call physicians, staff and hospital departments.\ 3. Perform clerical duties, answer the telephone and nurse call system.\ 4. Transport specimens to proper department.\ 5. Order Entry: enter orders, discharge patients, retrieve patient information for staff, enter demographics into\ discharge instruction software.\ 6. Communicate with co-workers, patient, and visitors to facilitate good customer relations.\ 7. Take vital signs accurately, (temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure) and document patient\ information on the chart.\ 8. Keep ED Log up to date, follow up on lab/x-ray tests for timeliness of results.\ 9. Assist with activities in patient mobility, positioning and comfort measures.\ 10. Report status changes to the nurse.\ 11. Clean rooms, make beds, assist with stocking all areas and retrieve ED equipment from other hospital areas as needed.\ 12. Maintain adequate levels of forms, charts and office supplies.\ 13. Initiate CPR.\ 14. Transport patients by pushing, pulling, lifting; in a wheelchair, bed, cart or geri chair.\ 15. Reposition patients with or without mechanic devices, by lifting, pulling and pushing.\ 16. Organize and prioritize work to complete daily assignments.\ 17. QA/QI responsibility: enter raw data/daily stats, copy charts, assist in data collection.\ 18. Performs other duties as assigned.\ 19. Cleaning of unit.

Physical Demands:\ May require frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and grasping. Occasionally requires lifting and carrying\ up to 35 lbs. May also require pushing and pulling up to 35 lbs. Job requires full range of body motion, with\ occasional twisting, climbing, balancing, stopping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching. Job may require reaching overhead. Job requires ability to handle and lift patients.Eye-hand coordination, and finger and manual dexterity are required. Requires corrected hearing and vision to a normal range. Job requires working under stressful conditionsand/or irregular hours. Some exposure to communicable diseases, sharps, and hazardous material is anticipated. Job requires potential exposure to body fluids and radiation.Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols. Ability to use office equipment such as telephone, computer terminal, fax machine, typewriter and copier. Repetitivemovements involved in typing and keyboard entry are required.
