Job Title: Mechanic
Job Description
As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for assembling, building, adjusting, dismantling, and repairing machinery and equipment. Your work will primarily involve mechanical or fitting tasks, and you will operate under the general direction and supervision of the Maintenance Lead Person, Manufacturing Services Engineer, or Production Supervisor. You will use a variety of tools and equipment, including small hand tools, welders, torches, mechanical and electrical testing and measuring equipment, lathe, drill press, grinders, portable power tools, pipe fitting, and plumbing tools.
Responsibilities
Study and interpret construction, mechanical, or electrical blueprints, drawings, or sketches to install new equipment, modify existing equipment, or troubleshoot mechanical or electrical problems.
Plan and determine working procedures and tool and material requirements.
Correct defective mechanical devices and other equipment by disassembling, installing new parts, welding, or re-fitting.
Adjust and maintain mechanical equipment.
Use electric and acetylene welding equipment to make repairs and weld various types of metals.
Install air, water, and gas lines; repair and maintain plumbing.
Repair and maintain lift trucks and various pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
Repair and maintain basic AC and DC electrical systems.

High School graduate or equivalent.
Ability to interpret blueprints and sketches.
Proficiency in operating machine shop tools.
Proficient in brazing, cutting, and all-position acetylene and arc welding, including high-pressure hydraulic pipe welding.
Capable of routing black pipe and hydraulic tubing.
Skilled in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems.
Must have own hand tools.

We offer shift premiums for second and third shifts and pay overtime after 8 hours and after 40 hours of work. We are a union company currently negotiating for better pay rates.
Work Environment
The work environment is a heavy industrial setting with four main large pieces of equipment. You will consistently perform changeovers to get products to customers, during which breakdowns occur and repairs need to be made. The monthly schedule is as follows: 1st week - 6 days (72 hours), 2nd week - 6 days (72 hours), 3rd week - 4 days (48 hours), 4th week - 6 days (72 hours).

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $66102.40 - $66102.40/yr.

Medical is through BCBS. We offer a discount on premiums if employee participates in a health screening. There are 2 plans to choose from. These are high deductible plans; however, the company gives up to $2K a year towards this deductible.
Dental is through Delta Dental of IL
Vision is through VSP.
Life insurance is paid by the company for employee, spouse, and kids.
401K is matched at 50% up to the first 6%
STD and LTD are paid by the company.
