The Role: This position is responsible for supporting the construction project team within the Capital Planning department, by job and project shadowing, learning the standards and practices of their position, and developing project management skills to assist in their development for future career opportunities. This role is also responsible for foundational skill development in apply engineering, mapping and surveying skills to maintain our line utilities locate drawings while also ensuring we meet all legal obligations associated with Utility Locates. This job requires basic knowledge of underground utilities, building systems, and overall site features in order to maintain our underground utility maps. This position requires the utilization of high tech Trimble survey equipment and the related engineering software to take GPS shots and document new or newly excavated utilities. This primarily responsible for the full-time organization and coordination of mapping documents and to provide support to the day-to-day operations of the Capital Planning and Projects unit of the Facilities Management Department. Job Duties Capital Planning Mapping Operation: - Responsible primarily for coordination of the Capital Planning mapping operation which includes the full-time organization and coordination of mapping documents utilized by Capital and Facilities Management Department (FMD) and ensuring digital and hard copy files are updated on a consistent basis based on as-built conditions of utilities, man covers, flow direction distinction, (x,y,z coordinate verification) valve locations, dead heads, underground structures, supporting photography documentation and other pertinent to mitigating risk in any all underground excavation by CWU or
