Job Title: Guidance Nav & Control Engr 5 Duration: 12 Months Location: Everett, WA Shift timings: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Summary: The Control Laws team is looking for motivated individuals to join the team as control law engineers, supporting various programs including 777-X, 737MAX, 787, Autonomy, and other development programs. The position offers exposure to a great variety of core GNC/Flight Controls tasks and experiences, including interactions of the control systems with the dynamics of the vehicle to assess factors such as robustness and margins, control structure interaction, performance evaluation, handling qualities, and loads in order to validate or assess the system design. The work also includes assisting in demonstrating compliance with applicable regulations and specifications by executing tests, performing analysis or simulation, and design reviews in order to deliver a compliant product that achieves airworthiness certification. Position Responsibilities: Gathers defines, and documents system-level requirements to support flight control and mission or trajectory requirements. Performs and documents design and analysis of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) models and tools. Supports troubleshooting of routing operational anomalies, functional tests, and services incidents. Executes tests, performs analysis or simulation and design review per FAA, MILSPEC, and NASA guidance to deliver a compliant product. Supports the development of solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction. Participates in new business development efforts and works under general supervision. Perform frequency domain analysis in Matlab/Simulink to assess system stability characteristics and perform time domain performance analysis. Participate in the development and review of design requirements. Show compliance to requirements via appropriate testing and analysis. Develop and execute Detailed Test Procedures using flight controls test facilities with real flight hardware and software. Participate in engineering development and pilot demonstrations in the engineering flight simulators. Develop and execute software tests to support verification and validation activities. Identify control law design and implementation problems. Address in-service squawks as necessary. Support flight tests. Required Skills: ABET-accredited bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Field. Experience with System Safety Analysis including failure modes and effects analysis; fault tree analysis; common cause analysis, and single & multiple failure analysis OR General familiarity with flight control systems. Preferred Skills: Basic experience using UNIX. Knowledge and background in classical and modern control theory. General knowledge of the theory of flight and aerodynamic. Education: Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
