The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator will support the creation of low volume and one-of-a-kind parts from a variety of materials. The role will work with customers following projects through multiple phases from receipt of concept to delivery of finished product. The CNC Operator will use CNC machines and follow various inspection processes to achieve desired outcomes. This position is based in Farmington, MI and is a 2nd shift (start time is 4:30pm and typically works 8-10 hours per day Mon-Fri + Saturday at times).As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for:Operate CNC machines, lathes and mills, making multiple passes until desired outcome is attainedInspect quality using common shop equipment, and adjust material, fixturing, or toolingSelect appropriate material stock, and manually cut to working sizeLoad material into CNC machines, apply fixturing, and select toolingMachine fixtures and jigs to support processSupport multi-phase CNC machining process including troubleshooting, design changes, and issue resolutionPrep, inspect, finish, and join parts using manual equipment and hand toolsMaintain machinery, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized stateSubmit requests for restocking materials or suppliesTo be considered for a CNC Operator, you will need:High school diploma or equivalentNo previous experience requiredBasic knowledge of shop tools including bandsaw, sander, drill press and inspection equipmentAbility to use MS Office products and manage filesGood communication skillsA successful candidate may also have:Associate degree in Advanced Manufacturing or related fieldExperience with 3D printing or Additive ManufacturingExperience with 3-axis milling operationsExperience with Industry Standard Software applications, such as Tebis, Mastercam, WorkNC, CATIA or AutoCADExperience with polymer or metal model makingKnowledge of 3-axis milling operationsAbility to edit G&M code using machine controllerBasic knowledge of manual grinding (internal (ID)/outer diameter (OD), surface grinding, rotary), honing, lapping, mill, latheKnowledge of model making, mold making, metal fabrication, and compositesAbility to learn and use 3D scanning methods for quality inspectionAbility to become International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) certifiedOur full-time benefits include: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, earned sick time, STD, LTD, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation, paid holidays, and more.
