Samson Rope Technologies, Inc. Machine Operator (Large Braid) in FERNDALE, Washington

Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage, is seeking a large braid Machine Operator for production on the 2nd shift who will perform tasks to set up machines and materials for machine operation, monitor and troubleshoot machines during their shift, and perform minor repairs as necessary. They may operate a forklift to supply materials to the production area. In addition, Machine Operators will practice a high level of business ethics and professionalism while adhering to safety and quality guidelines in support of Samson strategy and core values.

 

2nd Shift Schedule: 2:45pm -- 11:15pm

 

There may be times we require employees to work scheduled overtime on weekends as needed. Applicants should expect this to be a potential part of employment with Samson.

 

Who You Are:

  • A team player who works well with a diverse group of individuals and can build relationships with coworkers.
  • Mechanically inclined with an aptitude to troubleshoot minor machine failures, make minor adjustments, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE throughout shift duration, including hearing protection.
  • A clear and concise communicator in both written and oral forms.
  • An attentive listener who can hear/perceive the nature of sounds by ear and follow verbal directions.
  • A proficient computer user with basic skills in Microsoft Windows and the Internet.
  • Capable of gathering, recording, and reporting on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems.
  • Physically able to twist/turn, reach over shoulders, and stand/walk on a prolonged basis.
  • Able to lift 25 -- 50lbs frequently and heavier loads occasionally.

What You'll Do:

  • Operate production machinery within standard operating procedures (SOPs), follow all safety procedures and requirements, adhere to product constructions (materials, machinery setup, machine operation), maintain a clean work area and comply with 5S.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on production machinery. Troubleshoot production machinery.
  • Perform equipment change-overs. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use and during machine setups.
  • Maintain and transport material supply adhering to just-in-time manufacturing principles.
  • Responsible for quality control. Notify lead or supervisor if product does not meet quality specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
  • Complete production tickets and other required paperwork. Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  • Participate in process improvement programs (i.e.: lean).

What You Should Have:

 

Education:

  • Required: Basic reading comprehension, writing, and arithmetic skills. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to use the English language to engage in effective communication within our business operations.
  • Desired: High School Diploma or equivalent.
