Job Title: Warehouse Lead - Customs Exam Station

Location: Fife , WA

Shift: 4-10 Shift, either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday

Pay Rate: $23-$23 per hour

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Warehouse Lead for our Customs Exam Station to oversee operations and ensure the success of our warehouse team. Position Summary:

The Warehouse Lead will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, coordinating the loading and unloading of exam containers, and ensuring a safe and productive work environment. This role requires hands-on leadership to train, guide, and motivate team members while ensuring that operational goals are met. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in warehouse operations, forklift use, and yard hostler driving, along with prior leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the workforce in the proper devanning (unloading) of containers for U.S. Customs inspection.

  • Supervise the unloading and reloading of inbound trucks/containers, ensuring proper sorting (by hand or forklift) and no cargo damage.

  • Ensure safe, productive, and efficient operations while meeting quality and customer service standards.

  • Train new employees on the proper procedures for devanning, loading, unloading, and reloading cargo.

  • Read and evaluate Bills of Lading, Shipping Manifests, and Delivery Orders for accuracy.

  • Effectively communicate and interface with Mercer management and U.S. Customs agents.

  • Identify and address safety hazards in the workplace.

  • Maintain cleanliness in the warehouse, including picking up garbage, sweeping floors, and keeping aisles clear of debris.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of outdoor grounds.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

  • Self-directed with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

  • At least 2 years of forklift experience.

  • At least 1 year of yard hostling experience.

  • Proven leadership skills, including organization, motivation, and team-building.

  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy.

  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.

  • Ability to lead by example in all aspects of the role.

  • Must be teachable and able to follow instructions.

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Ability to read, understand, and evaluate Bills of Lading, Shipping Manifests, and Delivery Orders.

  • Reliable transportation to and from work.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a customs or bonded warehouse environment is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Work Environment:

  • The position involves both outdoor yard operations and indoor warehouse work.

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions while performing outdoor tasks.

  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and overtime as necessary.

Pay Details: $23.00 per hour
