McLaren Health Care Medical Physicist Lead - McLaren Careers in Flint, Michigan

Position Summary:

Provides Radiation Oncology Department with physics services to ensure a high level of radiation treatment quality and patient/staff safety.

Oversees systemwide radiation equipment/software quality assurance programs, treatment planning procedures, brachytherapy and special procedures, ensuring radiation equipment performance/maintenance, radiation safety and staff training.

Provides technical oversight of physics and dosimetry services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned

:

  1. Establishes radiation beam characteristics for clinical usage.

  2. Calibrates radiation therapy equipment, performs quality assurance checks, and coordinates with service engineering to perform basic troubleshooting and repairs.

  3. Consults with clinical and medical staff on simulation and patient setups, and treatment planning.

  4. Provides ongoing oversight of quality and safety of patient treatment delivery.

  5. Provides treatment planning (external beam, brachytherapy), quality assurance checks.

Required:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in medical physics or related discipline.

  • Certified in therapeutic medical physics from American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent certification from Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or American Board of Medical Physics

(ABMP).

  • Seven years of work experience in a full-service radiation therapy center after receiving board certification in therapeutic medical physics, including t
