Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Coordinator with a strong commitment to volunteer engagement and a passion for working with diverse communities. The Coordinator will assist in managing the Friendly Visiting Program and support QCH’s broader volunteer initiatives.
This role reports to the Friendly Visiting Supervisor and focuses on reducing social isolation among homebound older adults by connecting them with volunteers who provide companionship and monitor their well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in recruiting, interviewing, placing, and monitoring volunteers for the Friendly Visiting Program.
Conduct initial screening of potential volunteers and refer them to QCH programs as needed.
Oversee the onboarding and orientation process for Friendly Visiting volunteers.
Maintain accurate records; complete weekly/monthly reports and data entry for NYC Aging.
Plan and execute volunteer appreciation events, trainings, and recognition activities.
Manage volunteer social media groups; create monthly newsletters and volunteer tip sheets.
Represent QCH at community outreach events to attract new volunteers.
Compile statistical reports on volunteer participation and engagement.
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Communications, Nonprofit Leadership, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 2 years in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, or related nonprofit roles.
Strong leadership and volunteer engagement skills.
Excellent relationship-building and networking abilities.
Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.
Must pass NYS Clearance Review Background Check upon hire.
Preferred:
- Volunteer or professional experience with older adult populations.
