U.S. Army Sustainment Command Logistics Management Specialist in Fort Cavazos, Texas

About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio. Responsibilities This position requires incumbent to be ready and able to deploy as required in support of varied contingencies (humanitarian relief, exercises, national emergency, military operations, war, or other similar events). Work performed can be under stressful, arduous and austere field conditions in CONUS or OCONUS. Assist in planning and coordinating recurring studies in the development, review, and analysis of logistics facets of or pertaining to contingency, emergency, mobilization plans and operations. Assist in evaluating and assessing the battalion’s capabilities, implementing plans and developing mobilization operations plans and procedures. Maintain liaison and coordination with other directorates, AFSBn staff and local officials on development and activation of plans. Participates in broad logistics activities in various areas, including transportation, supply/services and materiel readiness. Serve as a team member on special projects, which can include to include Maintenance, Mobilization, Demobilization, Unit Deployment, Force Modernization, and the Command Supply Discipline Program. Operates utilizing Logistics Information Systems (LIS) and/or systems such as GCSS-ARMY, or other DoD applications to aggregate and calculate data for planning purposes. Serves as a team member on special projects and performs multi-functional logistics planning to support the requirements of an organization in accordance with standard operating procedures. Reviews mobility planning impact and provides input to the Installation Deployment Support Plan (IDSP). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in logistics management experience in Supply and Services, or Transportation, or Installation Maintenance Division, or MOB/DEMOB, or plans/operations, or any combination of those areas. Provides input to the Installation Deployment Support Plan, Command Supply and Maintenance Discipline Programs, and other Army logistics programs. Provides support for logistics operations, including contingency, emergency and mobilization/demobilization operations for the installation. Conducts analysis of the battalion's/LRC's capabilities and provides logistics operations support to Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Directorates within the U.S Army Garrison (USAG). Utilizes Logistics Information System (LIS) databases and tools such as Global Combat Service Support (GCSS) - Army, Logistics Modernization Program (LMP), AESIP Suite of Army logistics data.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR, Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics Management, Business Management. OR, Combination and Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. This is a Deployable Position. This position is designated as Emergency Essential (EE). The incumbent provides immediate and continuing support to combat operations and/or supports maintenance, repair of combat essential systems, and other logistics operations. The incumbent must perform duty in a combat zone after evacuation of nonessential personnel in connection with a war, a national emergency declared by Congress or the President. The position will not be authorized to be filled by a member subject to recall to active duty as a member of the Armed Forces due to the necessity to perform duties without interruption. Incumbent must sign DD Form 2365 and maintain medial, security, passport, performance, honorable conduct and overall fitness suitable for assignment to an austere and stressful combat environment.
