The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists in our Marketing department within the Metals division for a Business Development Manager located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The purpose of this position is to be accountable for third party contracts for marketing, distribution and sales of sulphuric acid, fertilizers and other byproducts (CO2). This role also involves providing data and analysis support for financial planning, business metrics, and supporting strategy deployment.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing and directing third parties for byproduct sales, particularly fertilizer and sulphuric acid.

  • Coordinating internal activities and acting as the primary contact and advisor for contracts, ensuring customer satisfaction and cost-effective supply, distribution, and transportation strategies.

  • Recommending and completing budget reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets, including byproduct sales and netback forecasting.

  • Working to achieve the company meets or exceeds sales and netback targets.

  • Managing key initiatives aimed at maximizing profitability from byproduct sales.

  • Developing strategies to improve communication between customer needs and production capabilities, supporting growth and value-added sales.

  • Analyzing cost and financial reports for the Fertilizer and Utilities businesses.

  • Coordinating the development of business drivers at all levels of the Fertilizer and Utilities businesses.

    Skills and attributes for success:

  • Diploma or degree in Business, Science, Marketing, Purchasing, Logistics, Agriculture, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and marketing; experience in fertilizer or related products preferred.

  • Proven experience in business planning

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.

  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Project management experience is considered an asset.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
