Job Description

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As the Senior Director, Global Transparency Head you will lead the Gilead Global Transparency program and support the management and execution of special projects, including direct responsibility for the submission of the US federal OpenPayments and various US states transparency reports. The role reports to the Vice President, Global Compliance Lead.

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Lead the Global Transparency team, and in collaboration with key stakeholders, set strategic objectives, and create and execute action plans to achieve those objectives and ensure the company meets evolving transparency and reporting obligations around the world.

  • Be responsible to ensure all US federal and state transparency reports are submitted annually in a timely, accurate and complete way, including the successful resolution of disputes.

  • Lead the company’s efforts to anticipate and address relevant developments, including jurisdictions with new or evolving transparency and reporting requirements, and industry trends in global transparency, especially for the US. Be aware of changes in legislation and transparency requirements, and the impact on current data capture processes.

  • Lead efforts to create and maintain documentation on transparency business rules and processes, including the interpretation of the US OpenPayments requirements in the Gilead Assumptions document.

  • Lead efforts to operationalize global transparency reporting across complex and diverse geographies, using Gilead’s global transparency system.

  • Partner with International Legal and other stakeholders to support and create new processes and ways of working to increase efficiencies for global transparency tracking and reporting.

  • Drive greater consistency and excellence through partnership with IT and Finance, increasing automated processes focused on data flows from Gilead systems to the Transparency Data Lake

  • Drive transparency and other compliance-related projects to support the broader objectives of the Global Compliance Operations team and Office of Ethics and Compliance

  • Work in partnership across Global Compliance Operations, Office of Ethics and Compliance, Global Legal Business Partners and other teams to help ensure the transparency organization operates within ethical and compliance frameworks.

  • Foster a high-performance culture. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members and enhance the broader team’s capabilities and effectiveness.

  • Ability to identify and prioritize higher risk items when facing challenges.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve internal processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in tracking and reporting of global transparency data. Minimize unnecessary bureaucracy and simplify workflows to facilitate smooth interactions.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Ten Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 14+ years of experience, with a BA/BS degree or 12+ years of experience, with an MS/MA, JD, MBA, or PhD

  • Professional experience in transparency reporting for device or pharmaceuticals. Extensive US experience is necessary, as well as general global transparency knowledge.

  • Experience as a team leader and people manager is needed, including proven track record and ability to mentor and lead a team of individuals.

  • Proven track record and good reputation of collaborating well with colleagues and external vendors.

  • Project management experience with the ability to oversee projects from start to finish with colleagues across different teams.

  • Experience working with large data sets and proven ability in data analysis with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Experience and knowledge of systems containing transparency data (e.g., SAP, CONCUR, Veeva)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
