POSITION SUMMARY

The focus of the CNC Machine Operator is to perform the basic set-up and operation of production runs as needed, general maintenance of their assigned machines and workspaces, creation of programs and fixturing as needed, and development of process documentation per company standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All employees are required to support Rosenbauers Mission, Vision, and Values.The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

1. Demonstrate ability to read drawings and inspect parts with specified measuring devices.
2. Load/unload parts in provided work holding method per setup.
3. Able to perform basic set-up functions, maintain tooling and perform offsets to maintain part quality.
4. Program equipment to perform production tasks.
5. Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
6. Monitor fluid levels of machine, and report any maintenance needed to supervisor.
7. Inspects first-run work pieces and verifies conformance to specifications to check accuracy of machine setup.
8. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
9. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
10. Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
11. Revise programs to eliminate errors, and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
12. Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:

• High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Education:

• Certification
• Associate degree

Required Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience on-the- job

Preferred Experience:

• Numerous controls Okuma and Hurco

Position Requirements:

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of numbers and their operations.
• Controlling operations of equipment or systems
• Inspecting and evaluating the quality of products
• Watching gauges, dials, and other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Using mathematics to solve problems.
• Conducting tests to determine whether equipment is operating as expected.
• Performing routine maintenance and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Ability to make precise adjustments quickly and repeate ly in moving controls of a machine.
• Ability to read and understand information.
• Ability to correctly follow rules to arrange things in a certain order.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Certifications:

• Forklift certified.
• Overhead crane certified.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

• Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.

Programing Skills:

• Ability to write and understand Hurco conversational programing.
• Ability to write and understand G-code programming.

Decision Making:

• Responsibilities are directed by a set of guidelines that provide methods for problem solving.
• Supervisor regularly reviews the activities to determine if the guidelines have been followed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is in a general shop and sometimes outside, and it has access to all welfare facilities. In some cases, the temperature can be warmer or colder depending on the season. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position will be exposed to the elements and will have to prepare themselves with the right equipment to ensure safety.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, hands, and fingers for over 60 minutes at a time. Depending on the season, different protective apparel will be required. The use of knees, legs, back, shoulders, and arms can vary from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. This position requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to complete job tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
