Job Summary

Warren County Power Station is a gas fired combined cycle power station in Front Royal, VA with a net generating capacity of approximately 1,370 Megawatts. The Warren County site is among the cleanest fossil-fuel fired facilities in the nation, using three combustion turbines and a steam turbine. The power station is helping to close a gap of 5,600 megawatts of generation needed in its service area.

As a Maintenance Operator Trainee, you will be required to operate and maintain power station equipment. This includes:

  • Inspecting, operating and monitoring equipment used in the production of electricity;

  • Performing daily routine operations;

  • Isolating/tagging equipment for maintenance;

  • Valve operations;

  • Making entries into computer-based logbooks;

  • Performing maintenance on major industrial equipment such as pumps, turbines, and power station mechanical equipment;

  • Performing maintenance on batteries, motors, switchgear, motor operated valves, and other power station electrical equipment.

You will be placed in a 56-month standardized skills development program at the appropriate rate of pay based upon your previous experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills and competencies.

The starting pay rate is $28.18 per hour with a 5% addition and increases through each step in the 56-month development program.

This position will operate on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule that includes days, nights, and two weekends over the course of a 28 day pattern. Successful candidates must be available to travel and train in Richmond, Virginia for up to nine (9) week periods of time.

This position does not provide paid relocation assistance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required :

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Ability to work around dust, grease, dirt, be exposed to weather conditions, loud noise, and machinery.

  • Ability to work 12 hour rotating shift work that can include days, nights, and weekend.

Preferred, but not required, skills & experience:

  • Journeyman craftsman experience; and/or Candidates who have power plant/power generation operational or maintenance experience.

  • Candidates with a minimum of three year’s experience in operating and maintaining major industrial equipment such as pumps, motors, valves, turbines and electrical switchgear in an industrial environment (e.g. shipyard, military, manufacturing, or power station)

  • Mechatronics Program certification or equivalent.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications outlined above.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E6 W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above/below).
