Field Welder
Pay rate: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
Summary
The Field Welder will be required to travel across the United States to repair various equipment and machinery in the power generation industry. This role involves precision on-site welding to ensure the highest standards of repair and maintenance.
About The Role
You will play a very important role in providing service to our customers. The Field Welder should have a strong, solid understanding and the ability to perform daily repairs, including the following required duties and qualifications:
Roles & Responsibilities Comprehensive knowledge of hand and automated TIG welding applications through a formal apprenticeship program or extensive experience.
Set up and operate welding machines as well as various power/hand tools.
Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by wrapping, distortion, expansion or shrinkage
Performs daily preventative maintenance on welding tools and equipment as required
Responsible for the overall quality of the welding work including distortion and dimensional control and taking corrective actions
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of welding tasks as needed
Inspect all work and ensure it meets requirements prior to passing it on to the next operation
Document actions by completing production and quality forms
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required
A minimum of 3 years' machining experience
Experience in the use of proper welding equipment
Good mechanical background
Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position
Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for work and/or training for extended periods.
Flexibility to work overtime and rotating shifts as required
Able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds, climb vertical ladders.
Ability to work both indoor and outdoor environments, and adverse and extreme weather conditions, in the dust, pollen, weeds, grasses, and in confined spaces
Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Work Schedule:
The job entails active work from February to May and then from September through beginning of December, with mandatory overtime. During the peak season, you must be available for 12-hour shifts, including holidays, weekends, short notice, and planned and unplanned emergencies, such as site outages
Physical Setting:
Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity. Ability to climb turbine towers daily (up to 300 feet) as required.
Work may involve lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses; hearing protectors; steel-toe boots; and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
