Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field and one (1) year of completed Postdoctoral Fellow research experience.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.

Essential Job Functions:

A fully funded postdoctoral research fellow position is available in the Department of Surgery; the project is a study of wound healing following radiation and burn, and includes collaborative work between the Finnerty lab and a biotechnology company. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our growing team. The candidate should be highly motivated, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and have a good track record of productivity, including a first-author paper. Under the mentorship of the PI, the fellow will design and perform experiments, analyze data, present work in conferences, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals. The fellow will have opportunities to develop related independent research projects and apply for postdoctoral fellowships, other training grants, or early career funding opportunities. Specific tasks will involve but are not limited to:

  • Ability to plan and perform experiments independently and with others as a team

  • Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately

  • Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and funding applications

  • Prepare figures and presentations

  • Presentation and communication skills

  • Mentoring and teaching skills for interaction with graduate students

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in microscopy and murine surgical procedures

  • Demonstrable publication record in peer reviewed journals
