Position: Inclusion Specialist

Location: District Elementary Schools

Date Position Available: 2024-2025 School Year

Required Qualifications: Candidate must have a masters degree in special education, educational leadership, administration, or a related field; minimum of 3 years experience as a teacher of students with disabilities and hold a (282) Teacher of Children with Disabilities State of Maine Certification and current CHRC authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education.

Preferred Qualifications: Maine Department of Education certification as one of the following: Assistant Administrator of Special Education (035), Administrator of Special Education (030), Building Administrator (040), or Assistant Building Administrator (045).

Description: MSAD 11 is looking for an Inclusion Specialist with a strong background in special education to lead the upkeep and creation of schoolwide systems and methods that support inclusion and the least restrictive environment for all special education students. This person will also complete the maintenance and development of IEPs and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the policies, rules, and regulations set by federal, state, and local guidelines.

Responsibilities: Establish a system to monitor and ensure compliance with all special education timelines required in the Child Find, Evaluation, and IEP processes; Advocate for least restrictive environment (LRE); Proactively engage with the Individualized Education Program Team (IEP); Analyze and synthesize evaluation data to aid in determining eligibility and programming needs; Assist in identifying necessary evaluations to address referral questions and to aid in eligibility discussions; Collaborate with and liaise with staff regarding MTSS, eligibility, and compliance, etc.; and Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with all team members, parents, and the community.
